The Emir of Daura, HRM Dr. Umar Faruk Umar, CON, has honored the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, Esq., with the traditional title of Mairamar Kasar Hausa I.

The title translates to First Daughter of Hausa Land and was presented on Wednesday as part of the closing events for the Hausa Day celebrations held in Daura, Katsina State.

Reacting to the conferment through a statement issued by her SA Media & Publicity, Dr. Nneka Ikem Anibeze, Musawa expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, calling it a personal milestone deeply tied to her roots, heritage, and identity. She noted that the title acts as a mandate to safeguard, advance, and showcase Nigerian culture, ensuring its fundamental values and historical significance are handed down to upcoming generations.

“My rich Hausa culture has shaped who I am today, and I am immensely proud to call it my own. I receive this title with a grateful heart, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility,” she said.

“Beyond the honour it represents, I see it as a call to continue celebrating, preserving, and promoting our heritage, while ensuring that its values, stories, and traditions are passed proudly to generations yet to come,” she added.

The Minister extended her gratitude to the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, alongside the traditional leaders and residents of Katsina State, for their hospitality and warm welcome.

“As we bring the celebrations of Hausa Day to a close, this honour reminds me once again that our culture is more than our inheritance. It is a living legacy and a trust entrusted to us to preserve, nurture, and hand over to those who come after us,” the Minister said.

She affirmed her dedication to upholding the title while remaining steadfast in her duty to champion the traditions of Kasar Hausa.

“I will carry the honour of Mairamar Kasar Hausa ta Farko with immense pride and with a renewed commitment to the preservation, promotion, and projection of the heritage of Kasar Hausa. I am proud of my heritage. I am proud of our culture,” she concluded.

The recognition served as a highlight of the Hausa Day festivities, which united civic leaders, traditional institutions, and community members in honoring the history and customs of Hausa land.
