Bulgaria also reports emergency landing requests on three aircraft

An airliner flying from Dublin to Rome was diverted to France and escorted by military aircraft on Thursday after a suspected bomb threat, French authorities said.

France’s air force said it sent planes “as soon as the threat was reported.” It added that the aircraft was being escorted to the Evreux airfield, west of Paris. The office of Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said a bomb squad was in place at the airport. It said 151 Aer Lingus passengers and six crew members were moved to safety.

According to Flightradar24, the aircraft turned near Paris and circled over the Evreux area after declaring an in-flight emergency.

No one has claimed responsibility, and officials have not attributed blame.

Separately, Bulgaria reported that three aircraft requested emergency landings on Thursday because of bomb threats, local media said.

On Tuesday, several European flights were targeted by bomb threats. They prompted emergency searches and briefly shut an airport outside Warsaw, and the Italian Air Force escorted a Ryanair plane into Rome.
