The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has fixed October 8 as the date to hear Senegal’s appeal against the stripping of its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The hearing will hold at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, and will involve the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), CAF, and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
Senegal had defeated hosts Morocco 1-0 in extra time to clinch the AFCON 2025 title, in a final marred by controversy after the Senegalese team staged a 15-minute walkout to protest a penalty awarded to Morocco. Following a complaint by Morocco, CAF’s Appeals Board ruled in the Atlas Lions’ favour and stripped Senegal of the title, prompting Senegal to file an appeal with CAS in March.
CAS said the hearing will be held behind closed doors, as both parties requested privacy and did not seek an expedited process, meaning the case will follow the court’s standard timeline.
The court noted that a final decision will not be delivered on the day of the hearing, as panel deliberations will begin afterward, with no date yet set for the ruling.Senegal is seeking its second AFCON title in three tournaments, while Morocco is chasing its first title since 1976.
