President Bola Tinubu has approved major appointments to leadership roles within the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
The President appointed Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas, a former spokesperson for the House of Representatives, as the new Director-General of the BCDA. In tandem, former federal lawmaker Patrick Obahiagbon has been named Executive Director of Strategy and Commercial at the NDPHC, while Chukwuma Umeoji has been reappointed to his former role as Executive Director of Corporate Services at the power firm.
The announcement was made via a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, who confirmed that all appointments take immediate effect.
Namdas Steps In at BCDA
Namdas steps into the BCDA leadership role following the resignation of Dr. Dakorinama Alabo George, who left the agency to vie for an elective office in his home state.
Representing the Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State in the past, Namdas served as the spokesman for the 8th House of Representatives and was recently a contender in the Adamawa State governorship primary election. He also brings a robust media background to the position, having previously worked in journalism and public relations, notably serving as the Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna.
New and Returning Faces at NDPHC
For the NDPHC, President Tinubu selected Patrick Obahiagbon to take over as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial. Obahiagbon succeeds Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who also resigned to pursue local political ambitions.
A legal professional and seasoned politician, Obahiagbon has served across both the Edo State House of Assembly and the National Assembly, carving out a reputation for his highly eloquent and philosophical public speaking style.
Meanwhile, Chukwuma Umeoji returns to the NDPHC executive management team as the Executive Director of Corporate Services. Umeoji, who previously represented the Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the 9th National Assembly, had stepped down from the power firm to pursue a political campaign in his home state before being officially reinstated by the President.
