Nollywood actor and reality star Saga Adeolu has opened up about the logistics of filming romantic scenes, admitting that he would skip onscreen kissing entirely if given the choice.
During a recent appearance on the Nolly Icons podcast, Saga challenged the common public perception that actors enjoy these intimate moments. He explained that such scenes are often awkward and purely professional efforts aimed at proper script interpretation.
Despite his roles in numerous romantic productions, the actor revealed he has yet to have a positive experience with a cinematic kiss.
“It is not easy to kiss another actor. It is weird. I have not really had any good onscreen kiss. It is weird having people invade your mouth with saliva,” Saga shared.
He emphasized that the process is far from romantic for the performers involved.
“It is not something we enjoy. People think we enjoy it, but we don’t. We are just doing it for the story most times. If I had my way, I won’t kiss anyone in a film… There was a day I kissed four different girls on set,” he said.
Saga further suggested that the audience should show more appreciation for the discomfort actors endure to make a story believable. Rather than being judged for these scenes, he believes actors deserve credit for their commitment to the craft.
