Family identifies body of 29-year-old Blessing Moshood after she left home and never returnedThe body of a 29-year-old Sociology graduate, Blessing Moshood, was discovered in a canal in Jikwoyi, Abuja, after she was allegedly murdered last Thursday night.
According to her sister, Abigail Moshood, Blessing left their home around 8pm following a phone conversation with an unidentified person. She later called to say she would return briefly to collect her phone charger — but never came back.
The family grew alarmed when Blessing failed to return the following day. Their fears were confirmed after neighbours reported a woman’s body had been found in a nearby canal, described by hairstyle — a detail that matched Blessing’s.
Police from the Jikwoyi Division had already evacuated the corpse, found half-naked, to a mortuary in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.Abigail said she visited the police station and was shown photographs that confirmed the deceased was her sister.
Neighbours remembered Blessing as warm, articulate, and intellectually gifted. “She graduated with a Second Class Upper, and whenever she spoke, you could hardly fault her English,” said a neighbour, Margaret. “She will be greatly missed — especially by the children.
“Another neighbour, Abdullahi Musa, called on the police to deploy crack detectives around the Jikwoyi Medical Centre area to tackle rising criminal activity.
The FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine, confirmed the incident and stated that investigation is ongoing.
