The Federal Road Safety Corps has advised motorists to take an alternative route through Kachia and Bwari as heavy Eid-El-Kabir traffic, ongoing road construction, and torrential rainfall combine to cause severe gridlock on the Abuja–Kaduna Highway.

In a statement signed by Kaduna Sector Commander, Corps Commander Andrew Longkam, the FRSC identified the Nasarawa Azara axis between Katari and Jere towns as the worst-hit corridor, where traffic movement remains painfully slow.

The corps blamed part of the congestion on lane indiscipline and impatience among motorists, and confirmed that additional personnel had been deployed along the affected route, with support from the Nigerian Army and other relevant agencies.

Despite these interventions, gridlock persists.Motorists travelling from Kaduna to Abuja are advised to use the alternative route through Kachia, Maraban Kubacha, Jere, Bwari, and Dutse Abuja — and vice versa for those heading in the opposite direction.

The FRSC further urged drivers to avoid dangerous overtaking and one-way driving, maintain lane discipline, drive within speed limits, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before setting out. Night travel is also discouraged where avoidable. The corps reaffirmed its commitment to road safety and the free flow of traffic during the festive season.
