The Federal Government on Wednesday inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Africa Tourism and Creative Economy Expo, scheduled to take place in Abuja from November 24 to 25, 2025.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, described the initiative as a strategic move to position Africa’s cultural, creative and tourism sectors as engines of economic growth, regional integration and global competitiveness.
The Expo, themed “Optimising Africa’s Comparative and Competitive Advantage for Accelerated Trade and Economic Growth,” is designed as a continental platform for policymakers, investors, innovators and creators.
LOC Chairman Mallam Denja Abdullahi pledged a high-impact event, announcing that the Expo would unveil “Agenda 2030” — a continental framework targeting an increase in Africa’s share of global trade from 2% to 10% by 2030 through strategic investments in tourism and the creative economy.
Planned activities include exhibitions, trade fairs, investment workshops, cultural displays, B2B meetings and a peer review mechanism for African nations. The Expo is being organised in partnership with Afrocultour Nigeria Ltd.
