In the House, he has spoken for us. He moved a motion of urgent public importance on the recurring road accidents in Damagum, and pressed for safety measures. He moved the motion on the Bill to establish the Chartered Institute of Public Health Nursing Practitioners of Nigeria, which has reached Second Reading. A bill to establish a Federal College of Agriculture and Forestry in Fika (HB 1023) has gone to public hearing. For a farming constituency, that could open real doors for our young people.
In education, he built six classrooms in Gadaka Town, three in Jajere Town and three in Ngelzarma Town. Classrooms at Government Arabic Secondary School, Damagum, have been rehabilitated and completed. Primary schools received exercise books. His MBJ Scholarship was open to students from all 23 wards through an online portal, so opportunity did not depend on who you know. Students are receiving ₦30,000 stipends in batches of 200.
In health, he took the doctor to the people. His free medical outreach in Fune in June 2024 treated malaria, high blood pressure and typhoid, gave out drugs, and provided eye care and glasses to over 3,000 people. Two months later, he brought another to Fika.
On water and power, anyone who has lived with a broken borehole knows what it costs a family every day. He provided boreholes in Damagum, Kolere, Nganzarma, Mashio, Garin Tuje, Gadaka, Nahuta, Kadi, Fika Jama’are and other communities, and dug wells in about 20 villages. He rehabilitated broken boreholes, converted some to solar, restored electricity in Jajere, and installed solar power in about 80 villages.
On roads, he built a 1-kilometre road in Damagum Town and a 3-kilometre road network leading to Jajere. People use these every day to get to market, school and work.
For young people, about 20 youths found jobs in agencies including the Police, Immigration and Civil Defence. About 300 more benefited from empowerment programmes, and he facilitated Federal Government cash grants for 200 beneficiaries.
For the vulnerable, he gave food relief during Ramadan and at Christmas, and life jackets to communities in Ngalda and Dufuna, where the water can be a danger.
More is coming. Contracts have been awarded for a Town Hall in Gadaka and a Mini Stadium in Fika and Damagum.
