Burna Boy has broken the record for the highest monthly listener count among African artists on Spotify, reaching 46.84 million monthly listeners and surpassing South Africa’s Tyla, who previously held the record at 46.58 million.

The Grammy-winning Nigerian artist’s surge is driven by the global success of “Dai Dai,” his collaboration with Colombian star Shakira. The track, which serves as the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, gained massive traction following its performance at the tournament’s opening ceremony, resonating with audiences both in Nigeria and across the diaspora.

Burna Boy’s previous most-streamed track on the platform was “Last Last,” a 2022 Grammy-nominated single that has approached 600 million streams. For context, Bruno Mars holds the highest all-time peak on Spotify at 133.6 million monthly listeners, with Justin Bieber close behind at 128.4 million.
