‎‎On the occasion of Father’s Day, Ambassador (Mrs.) Ninikanwa Olachi Okey-Uche, the Nigerian Consul General in Johannesburg, has extended a warm and celebratory message to Nigerian fathers residing in South Africa, the Kingdom of Eswatini, and the Kingdom of Lesotho.


‎In an official statement released on June 21, 2026, the Consul General praised the diaspora fathers for their steadfast dedication, labeling them as pillars of strength, wisdom, and sacrifice for both their families and the broader community.

‎Ambassador Okey-Uche acknowledged the unique hurdles faced by citizens living and working abroad. “Living and working away from home often presents unique challenges,” she noted, praising the fathers for their “extraordinary resilience, dedication, and selflessness” in maintaining the dignity and reputation of Nigeria while far from home.


‎The statement emphasized the crucial role of fatherhood in shaping the next generation through guidance, integrity, and patriotism, traits she highlighted as core pillars of Nigerian culture that allow Nigerian children to excel globally.
