Erdogan warns against Israeli sabotage of US-Iran deal as Middle East tensions rise

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has declared that Middle East peace initiatives cannot succeed without local consensus, warning that Israel must be blocked from sabotaging the United States-Iran diplomatic accord.

Speaking in Istanbul alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Erdogan emphasized that long-term stability requires local cooperation.

“No solution that does not take strength from the will and contributions of regional countries can be lasting,” Erdogan stated.
He further criticized the actions of the Israeli leadership regarding the ongoing diplomatic framework.

“We are closely following the Israeli administration’s attempts to dynamite the (U.S.-Iran) deal … The current war-addicted Israeli government must not be allowed to drown our geography in the smell of gunpowder and blood again,” he added.

The Turkish leader has continuously accused Israel of actively undermining the US-Iran memorandum of understanding (MoU), while maintaining his strong condemnation of Israeli military operations across Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

This development follows indirect discussions held in Qatar between US and Iranian delegations, aimed at keeping negotiations on track after a recent exchange of military fire.

In response to the friction, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that Tehran intends to set up a direct communication channel with Washington to log violations of the agreement.

Brokered with assistance from Qatar and Pakistan, the current MoU outlines a 60-day ceasefire, the reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, specific parameters for Iran’s nuclear program, and a structured timeline to negotiate a permanent end to the conflict. However, the stability of the pact remains fragile after both the US and Iran engaged in tit-for-tat military strikes following disagreements over the interpretation of the terms.
