Olakunle Churchill, the businessman and former husband of actress Tonto Dikeh, has broken his silence regarding reports of a marital breakdown with Rosy Meurer, claiming that no legally recognized marriage exists between them.
The controversy erupted following reports that Meurer had initiated divorce proceedings.
These rumors gained traction shortly after Churchill’s recent reconciliation with Tonto Dikeh, who is now a gospel minister.
Responding to divorce documents circulating on social media, Churchill took to his Instagram account on Wednesday to label the claims as “baseless.” He argued that because their union lacked formal legal standing, a divorce is technically impossible.
Addressing the nature of their relationship, Churchill clarified that their union never reached the stage of a legal or religious ceremony.
“The reports circulating online about a supposed divorce between myself and Roseline Meurer are completely false. There is no truth to them. There was no legally recognized marriage.
There was no church wedding and no court wedding,” he stated.
He further explained that their formal commitment was limited to a traditional introduction.
“What took place was an introduction. Therefore, the idea of a “divorce” is baseless from the outset,” Churchill added.
The businessman also raised concerns regarding the legitimacy of the legal papers being shared online, noting that he had not been formally served any documents. He questioned the professional conduct of the legal team involved in the purported filing.
“Beyond that, any legitimate legal process requires that all parties be formally served and given the opportunity to respond. I was never served. So I ask a simple question: what exactly is being presented to the public, and how was it obtained?”
He concluded by suggesting that Meurer was receiving poor guidance from inexperienced sources.
“I’m 100% sure that individuals without proper experience in the media space are advising Rosy incorrectly, alongside legal practitioners who operate under a mango tree without due process and claim to produce divorce documents within 24 hours,” he said.
