PSG are heading to Budapest. A clinical early strike from Ousmane Dembélé and a disciplined defensive display saw Luis Enrique’s side beat Bayern Munich 1-0 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, advancing 6-4 on aggregate to set up a Champions League final showdown with Arsenal on May 30.
It took PSG less than three minutes to settle the tie. Fabian Ruiz split Bayern’s defence with a precise through ball, releasing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia down the left. The Georgian brushed past his marker, cut inside, and squared for Dembélé perfectly placed, as ever to slam home. The Ballon d’Or winner’s finish was as composed as it was decisive.
From that moment, Bayern never truly threatened. Michael Olise, so dangerous in recent weeks, was a peripheral figure throughout. Harry Kane grabbed a stoppage-time consolation, but it was exactly that a consolation. The hosts looked weary, their 52nd match of the season telling on legs that needed more than one big night had to give.
For PSG, it was a statement as much as a result. Last year they ended their long wait for European glory with victory over Inter Milan in this very stadium. Now they return to a final chasing something rarer back-to-back titles, a feat unseen since Real Madrid’s dynasty of the late 2010s.
