The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power disruption affecting parts of Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Yobe States, as well as Gazaoua in the Niger Republic.TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, said in a statement on Saturday that the outage is due to scheduled maintenance work at the Kumbotos 330-kilovolt transmission substation on Sunday.
As a result, electricity customers served by Kano Electricity Distribution Company, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, and Yola Electricity Distribution Company will experience power disruption.
According to TCN, the maintenance will allow its contractor to continue upgrading the 330kV bus II jumpers and replace existing 350mm² conductors with 800mm² conductors to strengthen the transmission network and improve power reliability.
The company said Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), and parts of Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), will be unable to receive power for distribution to customers in Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States, as well as Azare in Bauchi State, Nguru in Yobe State, and Gazaoua in the Niger Republic.
