Dr. Zainab was born into the household of a retired civil servant, the late Ishaku Dalo, in Kukar Gadu town, Fika Local Government Area, Yobe State. Wife of former Adamawa State Governor and Minister of Youth Development, Boni Haruna, she has never lost touch with her roots or the people who shaped her.
A true daughter of the soil, her life has been defined by purpose, humility, and an unwavering commitment to her community.
A Scholar of Distinction
A proud alumna of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Potiskum, Dr. Zainab pursued academic excellence with remarkable dedication across five institutions. She earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Maiduguri, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Federal University of Technology, Yola, a Master of Science Degree, M.Sc in Political Economy and Development Studies from the University of Jos, and crowned her academic journey with a PhD from Nasarawa State University — building one of the strongest intellectual profiles in Yobe political history.

Political Courage Tested Early
Long before it was fashionable, Dr. Zainab stepped boldly into the political arena. In 2007, she contested the Yobe Senate seat (Zone B) under the Action Congress (AC) and the Fika/Fune House of Representatives seat under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011— a rare and courageous demonstration of political conviction and broad-based grassroots appeal.
A Heart That Gives Without Limits
Beyond politics and academia, Dr. Zainab is defined by her deep compassion for the less privileged. She has consistently paid school fees for children of the poor, ensuring that poverty does not cut short a child’s future. She has settled hospital bills for the sick and vulnerable who could not afford care, sponsored community members for the annual Hajj pilgrimage, and extended a generous hand to countless individuals in need.
For Dr. Zainab, giving is not a gesture — it is a way of life deeply rooted in love for her people.
Honours Befitting Her Character
Her exceptional contributions have earned her four distinguished royal titles — Jakadiyar Fika, conferred by the Emir of Fika and Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers, Magayakin Tikau Emirate, Dawisun Daya, and Maman Mainakara — a rare recognition that speaks to the depth of her impact across communities.
2027: The Next Frontier
As the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Fika/Fune Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Dr. Zainab Boni Haruna brings decades of experience, unmatched grassroots credibility, and a proven record of service to the ballot. She is not just contesting a seat — she is carrying the hopes of a constituency long deserving of genuine representation.
