Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, say they foiled attacks by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on military positions in Bitta, Gwoza LGA of Borno State, and the North East Theatre Training School (NETTS) in Buni Yadi, Gujba LGA of Yobe State, between 29 and 30 October 2026.

At Buni Yadi, troops launched a counter-attack against a large group of ISWAP fighters in an engagement lasting about five hours, from 29 October into the early hours of 30 October. The Theatre Command coordinated the operation, combining intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) assets with air and ground forces. The military says 48 terrorists were killed.
Troops recovered 42 AK-47 rifles, five PKT machine guns, four general purpose machine guns, one 60mm mortar, 105 AK-47 magazines and two video cameras. They also recovered 30 rounds of 12.7mm armour-piercing incendiary ammunition, 2,738 rounds of 7.62mm special, 223 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 2,054 rounds of PKT ammunition.
