President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation and departed Paris, France, for Nigeria. His aircraft is expected to land at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later this evening.
He chose to stop in Lagos first to honour Chief MKO Abiola, the winner of the June 1993 election and a martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle. On Independence Day, he will attend the premiere of a film on Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
During his stay, Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days, in preparation for the 2027 elections. He will return to Abuja after those engagements.
He left Abuja on August 30, spent a week in London, then moved on to Paris. There he attended a private dinner with President Emmanuel Macron and met business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group. On Monday he also met Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings.
Last week, he witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Ogun State Government and DP World to build a Gateway deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and a Blue Marine Economic Zone. DP World plans to invest $7 billion in the project.
