The Kano State Censorship Board has handed down a one-year suspension to Kannywood actors Amina Uba Hassan (widely known as Amina Rani) and Adam Garba (also known as Raba Gardama). The disciplinary action follows the public release of a video deemed immoral by state authorities.

Abba El-Mustapha, the Executive Secretary of the board, confirmed that the one-year ban restricts both actors from participating in any filmmaking activities throughout Kano State due to violations of local censorship regulations.
A formal statement issued by the board’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, emphasized that any failure to adhere to the suspension would result in strict legal consequences in court.

Furthermore, the board has called upon film directors, producers, and industry stakeholders to fully comply with the order, warning that anyone who violates the directive will face legal penalties.
According to the regulatory body, the controversial footage sparked widespread tension across various communities in Kano.

The board reiterated its legal authority to suspend any industry professional who breaches the state’s censorship laws.
Finally, the statement advised all Kannywood stakeholders to stay mindful of their conduct to avoid damaging the reputation and public image of the Hausa film industry.
