Global Breakthrough: Pakistan Brokers historic US-Iran peace accord to end hostilities

In a major diplomatic breakthrough, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a comprehensive peace agreement between the United States and Iran, aiming to permanently end military hostilities between the two nations.

Sharif, whose country served as a key mediator in the intensive negotiations, shared the development in a statement on X. He revealed that both Washington and Tehran have agreed to permanently halt military operations and transition toward a diplomatic resolution.

“Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED,” the Pakistani leader wrote.

According to Sharif, the breakthrough includes “the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.” The development marks a potential turning point for stability in the Middle East and the broader international community.

An official signing ceremony has been scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland, where both nations are expected to formally endorse the accord.

Lauding both capitals for prioritizing diplomacy over confrontation, Sharif extended gratitude to the regional partners who aided the mediation process.
“We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict,” Sharif stated.

He also expressed appreciation to Qatar for its steadfast support, while praising the leadership of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye for their immense contributions toward achieving the agreement.

In the coming days, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings to establish the framework for technical negotiations ahead of the formal ceremony in Switzerland.

Trump Confirms the Agreement
Shortly after the announcement from Islamabad, US President Donald Trump publicly confirmed the pact on Truth Social, writing: “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete.”

Trump immediately authorized significant measures tied to the peace accord, ordering the removal of the United States naval blockade and the reopening of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

“I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade,” Trump wrote.
Addressing maritime operators and global energy markets, he added: “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

Meanwhile, Iranian state television also reported on the development, though it cited the statement issued by Pakistan’s Prime Minister rather than an official declaration from local authorities.

During the broadcast, the presenter framed the accord as a scenario where the United States “was forced to sign an agreement to end the war with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Resistance Front.” Several other Iranian media outlets similarly portrayed the agreement as a strategic victory for Tehran.

At the time of reporting, no senior Iranian government official had publicly commented on or independently verified the pact.

However, the synchronized reports from Pakistan, the United States, and Iranian state media have heightened expectations of a formal joint announcement ahead of the June 19 signing in Switzerland.

If finalized, this agreement would stand as one of the most significant diplomatic triumphs in recent history, potentially securing vital global energy corridors, calming Middle Eastern volatility, and charting a completely new course for Washington-Tehran relations.
