Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has booked a place in the Top 40 of the ongoing Miss World competition in Vietnam after winning the Africa Top Model title.Karibi-George beat contestants from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa to the Top Model crown, which was decided during the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII, themed “Soul of Heritage.”

Her win gives Nigeria an automatic place in the quarter-finals, alongside continental winners from the Dominican Republic, France and Vietnam, who represented the Americas and Caribbean, Europe, and Asia and Oceania respectively.

Announcing the results on Instagram, the Miss World Organisation congratulated the four continental Top Model winners for securing places in the Top 40 quarterfinals, and noted that one of the four would still go on to be named overall Top Model winner, earning a direct place in the Top 20.

The Top 40 will be made up of 10 contestants from each of the four continental categories, with the rest of the places decided through challenges including People’s Choice, Beauty With a Purpose, Head-to-Head and Multimedia.

Karibi-George, 26, from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had earlier reached the African finalists in the Head-to-Head Challenge. She was crowned Miss World Nigeria on June 6, emerging from a field of 20 finalists at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.

A communications professional and associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Karibi-George founded Beyond Labels, an initiative supporting inclusion, dignity and empowerment for children with special needs. She previously won Miss Africa International 2024 in Accra, Ghana.
