In a collaborative effort to showcase the nation’s cultural wealth, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) have officially launched a Joint Technical Committee.

The newly formed group is tasked with planning and executing distinct tourism experiences for international delegates heading to the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), which will take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from November 15th to 21st, 2026.
During the committee’s inauguration, NIPR President Dr. Ike Neliaku shared his confidence in the selected professionals.

He challenged them to think outside the box and work strategically to build travel itineraries that accurately mirror Nigeria’s profound diversity, warmth, and cultural heritage.
Dr. Neliaku emphasized that the event stretches far beyond running a successful conference.

He noted that WPRF Abuja 2026 is a premier opportunity to cast Nigeria in a positive global light, helping to establish the country as a top choice for tourism, foreign investment, and international partnerships.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the NTDA Headquarters in Abuja. Speaking at the event, NTDA Director-General Mr. Ola Awakan pointed out that Nigeria holds an extensive wealth of distinctive cultural traditions, destinations, and hospitality that can leave an indelible mark on visitors.

He promised that the authority is fully dedicated to designing world-class tours that leave delegates with enduring, positive memories of their stay in Nigeria.

The setting up of this committee marks a major stride forward in the countdown to the global gathering, which is anticipated to draw attendees from over 126 nations.

Representing the NIPR on the committee are Council Member and Vice Chairman of the NPC-WPRF, Haj. Maryam Sanusi, fnipr; FCT-LOC Chairman for the WPRF, Mr. Nyong Nyong, fnipr; Chair of the Civil Society Work Team for the NPC-WPRF, Inimfon Etuk, mnipr; and the Legal Adviser to the NPC, WPRF, Barr. John Aji.

The NTDA’s representatives include the Director of Marketing & Promotion, Mr. Olufemi Akinyele; the Director of the National Travel Bureau, Mrs. Celina Okpe; Technical Assistant to the Director General, Mr. Nelson Lucas; and Chief Tourism Officer for the Press Unit, Mr. Efosa Orhue.
