When Africa’s two largest economies move in sync, the continent takes notice. In a high-level diplomatic engagement this week, the Women Community in Africa (WCA) and key regional stakeholders have moved to redraw the blueprint for cross-border collaboration, centering women’s leadership as the engine for Pan-African progress.
At the center of the strategic talks was South African Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Her Excellency Lindy Mminele, Ambassador Mminele steered discussions on dismantling long-standing trade and perception barriers between South Africa and Nigeria.
Known for her focus on economic diplomacy and strengthening bilateral ties, she used the platform to push for concrete outcomes over rhetoric, urging delegates to translate dialogue into investment pipelines, regulatory alignment, and joint media narratives that reflect a unified Africa.

She was joined by Dr. Maimoona Salim and Ayanda Yaya Ngwane, the powerhouse WCA Summit Chairperson and Press Diplomat. Their joint mission: to supercharge South Africa–Nigeria relations and lock in a shared framework for continental prosperity.
Adding critical momentum to the engagement is Yaya of Africa, the title held by Ayanda Yaya Ngwane, who also serves as Vice President of the Women Community in Africa. Ayanda has long advanced diplomatic and media work for the South African High Commission in Nigeria and the Nigerian High Commission in South Africa.
At the meeting, she introduced strategic media initiatives and mediation efforts aimed at countering negative press, boosting unity, and unlocking trade and investment corridors across the continent, with special focus on her two home nations.
For Yaya of Africa, the work is personal. “This is more than diplomacy. It is duty, legacy, and love in action,” she said, expressing gratitude with a heartfelt, “Gracias to both my embassies… Your Press Servant, Yaya of Africa.”
The talks broke from standard diplomatic form. Leaders tackled the issues directly, mapping aggressive pathways to flip damaging media narratives, open massive trade and investment opportunities, and tighten regional cooperation. The message from the room was clear: African growth cannot happen in isolation. It demands radical dialogue, fierce partnership, and collective action.
As a relentless Pan-African movement, WCA, alongside dedicated mediators, is not just discussing change. It is building the infrastructure to make it happen. By amplifying women’s leadership and creating high-impact platforms, the organization is turning geopolitical potential into real-world momentum.
Together, these leaders are proving that a united, peaceful, and prosperous Africa is not a distant dream. It is actively under construction, driven by duty and an unyielding passion to continue.
