Troops from Operation SAFE HAVEN have apprehended a man suspected of impersonating a Nigerian Navy officer in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Acting on credible intelligence, security operatives carried out a targeted operation at the Grovos Hotel in the Apata area of Jos. The suspect, identified as Mohammed Auwal, was taken into custody at approximately 2:56 p.m. on May 23.

Initial investigations indicate that the suspect had been posing as an active naval officer, a claim that immediately raised red flags among security agencies and triggered a deeper inquiry.

During the raid, security personnel recovered several items linked to the suspect, including an identification card bearing Nigerian Navy insignia.

While formal communication regarding the arrest is still pending, Operation SAFE HAVEN has not yet released an official statement on the matter.

Meanwhile, investigations remain active to verify the legitimacy of the suspect’s claims and to uncover any potential accomplices linked to the operation.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions from local residents, many of whom are now urging authorities to implement stricter measures to curb the impersonation of military and security personnel within Plateau State.
