US President Donald Trump says Russia has agreed to supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel to American and global markets, following a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Announcing the deal on Truth Social, Trump said Russia would deliver the 300,000 tonnes immediately, a further 500,000 tonnes in November, and 1 million tonnes soon after. He added that another 3 million tonnes would follow “within a short period of time”.
The Kremlin said the hour-and-a-half call on Friday covered large-scale economic initiatives, including fuel supplies. Moscow said it “reaffirmed its readiness to supply oil and oil products to the American and world markets”.
Kirill Dmitriev, Putin’s envoy, welcomed the development on X. “Russia-US cooperation on diesel and energy will benefit the world,” he wrote.
According to the Kremlin’s read-out, Trump also welcomed Russia’s involvement in efforts to end the war with Iran.
