A building collapsed in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, on Monday evening, prompting a multi-agency rescue operation that is still ongoing. The FCT Police Command said it received a distress call about the collapse at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026.

A police response team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, ACP Edward Akaniyene, and the Area Commander, Metro, ACP Georgelyn Ufomadu, promptly responded to the scene. Personnel from the FCT Fire Service are conducting rescue operations at the site, with three ambulances stationed at the location.

Officials from the National Emergency Management Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, Federal Fire Service, Security Service Department, FCT Administration and other emergency response agencies have also joined the search and rescue effort.

Police said preliminary investigations showed the building had earlier been marked and sealed by the Department of Development Control, Abuja, which had directed occupants to vacate the premises.

No victims have been confirmed so far, police said, though search operations continue to determine whether anyone remains trapped in the rubble. Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the collapse.
