The Zamfara State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough following the successful rescue of a ten-day-old infant stolen from the General Hospital Kaura Namoda, amid a broader investigation into alleged human trafficking and baby factory operations.
The operation was initiated after a formal complaint was lodged at the Kaura Namoda Division three days prior to the rescue, reporting that the newborn had been taken from the medical facility.
According to a statement released on Saturday by DSP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, investigators immediately questioned the hospital staff members who were on duty during the incident to help gather leads.
The efforts paid off on May 15, 2026, at approximately 8:35 AM, when law enforcement officers successfully located and recovered the stolen baby at a nearby hamlet. Abubakar confirmed that the infant was found completely unharmed and has already been safely reunited with the biological parents.
Regarding the ongoing criminal investigation, Abubakar stated:
“One suspect (name withheld), aged 27 years, is currently in Police custody, undergoing further investigation in connection with the case.”
CP Ahmad Bello, the Commissioner of Police for the Zamfara State Command, praised members of the community for their vital support and timely information, noting that their cooperation was instrumental in bringing the child home safely.
He reinforced the Command’s dedication to eradicating all forms of criminal activity throughout Zamfara State and assured the public that updates will be provided as the investigation moves forward.
