Popular Afrobeats artist Bella Shmurda has opened up about his perspective on his craft, asserting that music is far more than mere entertainment, it is a form of “warfare” and a vital instrument for social development.

Speaking in the documentary, “For Bunmi”, Shmurda characterized music as a force for progress and a medium for spreading goodwill. He emphasized its role in maintaining mental well-being, elevating moods, and providing an escape from life’s hardships.

“Music is warfare. Music is a tool for the society. Music is a tool of progress. Music is an instrument of goodwill. Music is a tool to keep people sane, to put them in the right state of mind, to make them dance away their sorrow, and to make them feel alive and self-conscious,” the singer remarked.

The “Cash App” hitmaker also reflected on how becoming a father has fundamentally reshaped his creative process. He noted that he has become significantly more intentional about the themes and lyrics in his songs, driven by a desire to build a legacy that his children can look back on with pride.
